The New Sealcoat
Asphalt Coatings Company sealcoated the asphalt drive aisles and parking rows at Arista Flats right up to the concrete curbs. Fresh black sealcoat now covers the lots.
Along one curb island, the coat stops cleanly at the concrete edge and fills over the cracked surface. In one row, the faint outline of an old ADA symbol still shows through the new coat, a reminder of the layout before the restriping.
Layout Lines for the New Stalls
Asphalt Coatings Company used red layout lines on the pavement to guide the new stall lines at Arista Flats. The red lines line up the ends of the new stalls, so each row finishes evenly.
Striping the Asphalt Lots
Asphalt Coatings Company striped the sealcoated asphalt at Arista Flats with new markings for stall rows, ADA spaces and areas kept clear of parked cars.
- Stall lines: long rows of white stall lines run across the open lot between the apartment buildings.
- ADA stalls: blue accessible symbols and hatched access aisles mark the ADA stalls by the mailbox kiosk, the pergola and the utility building.
- Shared aisles: in several rows, two ADA stalls sit on either side of one hatched aisle.
- No-parking areas: white hatching closes off the end of a stall row and the space in front of the trash enclosure.
Keeping the space in front of the trash enclosure clear helps service trucks reach the containers without residents' cars in the way.
Striping the Concrete Lot
Asphalt Coatings Company striped the concrete parking area at Arista Flats on the fourth day of photos. The crew painted new white stall lines and ADA stalls on the concrete in front of the stone-clad apartment buildings.
The concrete rows have wheel stops at the head of each stall. Blue accessible symbols and hatched aisles mark the ADA stalls there as well, so accessible parking is consistent across both asphalt and concrete areas.
